Dumplings

Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoons salt (iodized)
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1 egg
- The egg may be omitted, but when used, the dumplings don't become heavy
- 3/4 cup milk
Directions
- Mix flour, baking powder, and salt
- Cut in shortening with 2 knives
- Add part milk to beaten egg. Mix in dry ingredients until a soft dough forms
- Cook 20 minutes in broth / soup
