  1. In large bowl, mix water, brown sugar, salt, and shortening with an electric mixer for 1 minute or until combined
  2. Add cornmeal, olive oil, and yeast. Continue mixing for another minute
  3. Begin integrating flour until the dough becomes difficult to work
  4. At this point, let the dough rest for 5 minutes
  5. Continue mixing the dough by hand until all of the flour is integrated
  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8 to 10 minutes
  7. Form the dough into a ball and place in a warm area to rest for 45 minutes to 1 hour
