New York Style Pizza Dough

Ingredients
- 1 cup lukewarm water
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt (iodized)
- 1 tablespoon shortening
- 1 tablespoon cornmeal
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 package yeast
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
Directions
- In large bowl, mix water, brown sugar, salt, and shortening with an electric mixer for 1 minute or until combined
- Add cornmeal, olive oil, and yeast. Continue mixing for another minute
- Begin integrating flour until the dough becomes difficult to work
- At this point, let the dough rest for 5 minutes
- Continue mixing the dough by hand until all of the flour is integrated
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8 to 10 minutes
- Form the dough into a ball and place in a warm area to rest for 45 minutes to 1 hour
